Adventure Aaron Films in Waitaki

Aaron Carotta, also known as “Adventure Aaron” was in the Waitaki District this weekend filming an episode of his new television show, “Catch and Cook”. In this series, Aaron travels the world and takes on challenges from chefs to hunt down an ingredient that the chef will then show how to prepare.

In the Waitaki segment, Aaron was challenged by Pen-y-bryn chef-owner James to bring back some of the area’s famed venison. Aaron successfully brought back the venison, but he also surprised James by bringing back some wallaby from the nearby Waimate wallaby hunting grounds. James had never cooked with wallaby before, but came up with an idea that worked out pretty well. You’ll have to watch the show to see what he came up with!

You can watch the show on the Food Network in the US, and on ChoiceTV in New Zealand. You can read more about Aaron’s time in the Oamaru area in the Oamaru Mail, here.
