Steampunk Exhibit Open in Oamaru

The 2012 Steampunk Exhibit is officially open in Oamaru! For several years now, an exhibit of Steampunk art from around the country (and the world) has taken Oamaru by storm, growing with each passing year and taking on a life of its own. This year’s exhibit, housed in the historic Customs House (normally the home nowadays of the North Otago Art Society, which has graciously made space available for this special exhibit), includes as a centrepiece the time machine you see in the image to the left, and a rather enormous kraken, as well.

The exhibit is open daily at a cost of just NZ$2 per adult, and will be on show until early March 2013. For a sampling of the ever-changing exhibits you can see there, check their online gallery here.
