Oamaru on Film

As New Zealand’s best-preserved historic town, with an intact Victorian streetscape in its historic precinct, Oamaru frequently serves as a filming location for local and overseas production crews. In 2007, New Zealand insurance company AMI shot a very successful advertisement that started off with an olde-timey shot of Tyne Street (in front of the Criterion Hotel) made to look like it took place in the 1920s, followed by scenes on the beach in nearby Kakanui.

It was reported in the Oamaru Mail today that AMI is releasing a new advertisement that features Oamaru. There was no information about when the ad would be released, but here in the meantime is the 2007 version, which is actually quite amusing.
