Victorian Heritage Week Begins!

Today marks the beginning of Victorian Heritage Week, a five-day extravaganza of events that celebrate and highlight Oamaru’s unique Victorian heritage. Townspeople who normally wear “regular” clothes will instead don their bustles and top hats, and penny farthing bicycles will hold sway over newfangled motor vehicles. The week culminates with Sunday’s Victorian Fete, with streets closed off to create a market atmosphere with kiosks selling traditional crafts, local produce and of course all manner of edibles. It’s a truly remarkable week, and one that everyone should come and experience!
